  • Condition: As is typical with many of the antique Chinese pieces, where applicable some of the hardware may have been replaced. There is general wear, and may be some shrinkage and age cracks that is typical for a piece this old, especially considering the climate difference. We feel these flaws add to the character of the piece and are preferable to replacement during restoration, Sometimes it is necessary to repair or replace certain components of the furniture, but that is typically done with antique wood. We try to be as clear as possible in the photos attached, however we are limited in the number of photos we can include, so it may not be possible to show every detail.     The front of this beautiful antique Asian trunk has a nicely detailed hand carved base. There is also a simpler base molding on each side. Above the base is an applied molded detail that is also applied to both sides.The main components of the trunk are joined with hand cut dovetail joints.
    The nice brass latch appears to be original.
    The front of this antique Chinese trunk is finished in a rich red lacquer with some remnants of hand drawn black ink images showing in spots. The top has some of the original black finish, while the sides are more of a brown lacquer. The back and the inside is natural aged wood.
    This beautiful trunk can be used as a blanket chest or it could be a nice end table between a pair of chairs.
