ANTIQUE Chinese Handpainted camphorwood lined Chest Trunk Handforged Latch 1800s

Im sure the buyer will know more than i do about this charming Antique painted wood trunk with hand forged brass latch (is the lock is missing ? or did one provide their own?) The hinges( maybe brass painted black) and handles are attached in a primitive way with bands of metal. I didn’t have bras so so I tried copper polish and it worked just did enough to give an idea but not a lot as some people prefer the old patina.
Rough condition paint missing, could use restoring but is stunning as is. Not sure if lacquer or pigskin or just painted wood? might be camphor wood as a wedding trunk? Delicate primitive vibe. Stylized red flowers painted on top both sides and back, there are some floral scrolls that might have been in blue. The front painting depicts pavilions and palaces, people and a sampan boat.APPROXIMATELY
