Black Wool DOUBLE BREASTED Civilian Paletot. Size 44. Used But In Great Shape!

SOME PHOTO INFORMATION BEFORE WE BEGIN:
The first two photos show this coat with rolled lapels (w/ four buttons showing).  The 3rd and 4th photos show the customer added button and button hole to allow this coat to be buttoned up to the neck if desired (w/ five buttons showing). The last photo in the series shows the sleeve linings at the armhole (top photo) and the bottom photo shows the machine sewn bottom coat hem.
So here’s what we have …
On consignment with us is this
size 44
black wool civilian paletot (
with modifications – more info below
).  Not sure of the maker but the patterning and assembly techniques are
very close
to those of South Union Mills paletots.  Worn just a couple times and remains in beautiful condition inside and out.  Entirely machine sewn including button holes. Rolled collar and lapels.
This coat was last used in a military application  (
worn a couple times in a surgeons impression
) as it has 3/4” stamped brass U.S. general service eagles on the front (five per side). However, these buttons can be easily replaced (by the buyer) with civilian style buttons thus returning the coat to a full civilian application. Inside we have a full length black polished cotton lining with white cotton sleeve linings. Just to mention it, when you put the coat on a little bit of the sleeve linings protrudes from the cuffs. A couple hand tacks further up the sleeve will hold this small excess in place inside the sleeves. Rounding out this coat are three external
body pockets with covers/flaps (two lower & one upper left breast) plus split tails.

(base of collar to front bottom hem.)
BACK LENGTH: 39 1/2"
(base of collar (center back) to bottom hem)
ARMPIT TO ARMPIT: 26"
(not an actual point of measurement in tailoring but a lot of guys ask for it)
WAIST: 44"
(measures 48" on the coat so will best fit a gentlemen with up to a 44" waist line (
as measured at navel level
)).
