    Description

    On consignment with us is this pair of heavyweight gray (dark gray w/ a hint of blue) wool
    42” x 27”
    trousers.  These trousers have been used but remain in good solid condition. A tiny bit of the wool nap is worn off on the knees and there are some seam repairs along the bottom edge of the pocket bags (
    more on that below
    ). Freshly cleaned but some stains do remain on the inside cotton facings.
    These trousers measure in with a
    42” waist

    unfinished
    length
    . Machine sewn main seams but w/ LOTS of hand sewn finishing. Hand top stitching on the right side fly panels, around the top entry (“mule ear”) pockets and around the two rear adjustment belts (w/ black enameled two-tine buckle). Just to mention it there is some zig-zag machine stitching inside the pockets holding the pocket facings in place. With a little time and patience you may be able to pick out that zig-zag stitching and replace it with hand stitching to keep in tune with all the other hand sewn details these trousers have. The pocket bags, internal facings and upper back panel lining are made from a heavy unbleached cotton (
    could be a heavy Osnaburg or a soft cotton duck; not 100% sure either way).
    The four waistband suspender buttons are 3/4” natural bone. The button for closing the front of the waistband is 3/4” black tin as are the four buttons in the fly. Some of these tin buttons have a little surface rust on them.
    We wish to point out that the fraying around the raw bottom edge of the pocket bags has reached the machine stitching that closed the bottom of the bags. However, the owner sewed in a new line of hand stitching a little higher up above the original machined seam line (see photos). With this hand stitching in place the frayed edges can be trimmed off if desired.
