The Adirondack toboggan is in excellent condition for a pre-owned vintage snow sled. The Adirondack signage is rare to be on the top front of the piece. The wood has wear marks which are indicative of a working toboggan. The toboggan is the type of decoration that would probably not make any sense if it were not well worn. Otherwise, a new modern more perfect version would be fine. However, the rustic, country, sports, and perhaps primitive decor themes beg for pieces like this toboggan. There has been no tearing up of the original finish and what was there is still there. For example, there is a little cracked or chipped edge on the back end of the sled. That was left for it's character. However, I do not use the "character" excuse for a crutch to make an item sound better than it is. The toboggan in this listing is of such character that we would feel fine hanging it above the dining room table.
There are so many decorative ways this piece could be used. It could be a simply picture shelf. The deer mount that came from out west would look great with this piece.
The yellow rope on the toboggan is still attached, in good shape and appears to be the original. The orange seat cousin comes with this and is in good shape for its age. It does show signs of wear and has excellent character that matches the toboggan. If you've been looking for one of these you know how hard it is to find one, especially in the shape that this one is in. The rows that originally attached it to the sled have been removed and are not there.
The wooden foot holds are solid and without damage. The toboggan is clean and ready for that favorite place.
